In het kader van mijn doctoraat en daaropvolgende onderwijsopdracht bij het Instituut voor Familiale en Seksuologische Wetenschappen van de KU Leuven, heb ik de afgelopen jaren onderzoek gedaan naar seksualiteit binnen verschillende relationele contexten. Binnen mijn doctoraat heb ik mij gefocust op seksueel verlangen en hoe dat beïnvloed wordt door intracties tussen partners.

Daarnaast (onder andere als promotor van masterstudenten seksuologie), heb ik onderzoek begeleid naar relaties en seksualiteit bij de transitie van partnerschap naar ouderschap, en heb ik mij verdiept in de rol van kinderwens en fertiliteit. Tot slot heb ik samengewerkt aan onderzoek rond seksualiteit bij ziekte en specifieke aspecten van seksualiteitsbeleving in andere culturele contexten.
